17/3/18 was a first World Premiere of I❤MAMMA  by Hadar Galron

A comedy with dramatic streaks about the challenges of modern Motherhood.

Originally written for and with (via improv.) third year students at Beit-Zvi schol of dramatic arts, I made a new version of the play – (changed the outline story) especially for ABC Municipal Theatre of Prague.

Directed by : Petr Svojtka  – Artistic Director at ABC theatre        Asisstant writer : Nufar Hurvitz

The Secrets – a play by Hadar Galron ( inspired by the screenplay she wrote with director Avi Nesher , was staged only recently in Israel (October ’17) , produced by the Beit-Lessin theatre in Tel-Aviv. Before the Israeli production it was commissioned by the Mlada Boleslav theatre in the Czech Republic . Galron’s earlier play , Mikveh, was on stage at the MB theatre for 2 years, and before the final show they made sure they had a contract for her next play . Only this time Galron was invited to personally direct the play .

Galron says: “Directing in a foreign language is a new challenge but I never say ‘no’ to adventures like this -especially as it’s in the Czech Republic that I love so much”

The Play   “Mikveh” by Hadar Galron -will be premiered this coming April (Opening night 19/4/18 ) at the Harold Green Jewish Theater in Toronto. This will be the 11th internaional production of Galron’s first play, that was originally staged in 2005, produced by “Beit- Lessin Theatre” in Tel-Aviv. It was nominated for 6 Theatre Awards and won two, including “Play of the Year”. The longest run of “Mikveh” is, surprisingly, not in a Jewish Theater but in the National Theater of the Czech Republic – ‘Narodni Divadlo’- there it has been on stage since 2007 until today ! (This is the 11th, and probably final, season)

Director at HG Jewish Theater : Liza Balkan        Dramatourge : Goren Agmon

‘The Playwrights’  is a unique theatrical event, Produced by The Israeli Drama Development Fund, aimed to enable young, original and innovative theater productions. In every event, four new short plays (up to 20 minutes each) are being debuted. The four plays, by four Israeli playwrights, are based on one common subject, elected by the audience through Facebook, and written on one night only. The writers share the writing night, and support each other through the process. After the plays are written, four young teams of directors and actors, are put into a few weeks of action, up to the final debut night in front of the audience. The whole event re-occurs every two months .

Another aim of this project is to establish a community of theater artists, audience and supporters, which will form a base for promotion and development of original Israeli Drama. The incomes will be dedicated to covering costs and to creating a financial fund for the support of Israeli contemporary Drama.

17-18/12

14/48  the  “world’s quickest theater project”  is a speed theatre that takes place in Tel Aviv, at tzavta theatre. The project started in seattle, Wasington. in 1997

The name of the festival derives from the unique format of creating and presenting 14 world-premiere short plays over the course of two days, or 48 hours.

The first evening begins with a private meeting of the participants. The playwrights, directors, actors and producers all write ideas for themes for the following night’s plays on pieces of paper.

One theme is (literally) pulled out of a hat, and the seven playwrights turn to the task of writing a 10-minute play each on the randomly drawn theme.

Early the following morning, the seven playwrights submit their plays and in randomly assembled teams (again, drawn from a hat) the seven teams have 10 hours to rehearse

and then present those seven plays. The audience for that first evening of plays then submits ideas for themes for the following night’s plays.
