Isra-Drama – Spotlight on Israeli Drama
An event designed to expose Israeli drama to the international theatre community: festival directors, theatre directors, stage directors, artistic directors, dramaturges, translators, and journalists. During the week-long Isra-Drama, we present the best of Israel’s original playwriting on stages, accompanied by subtitles. Our guests are invited to panels and discussions with Israel’s leading theatre creators, and have the opportunity to meet and talk with our playwrights. Isra-Drama is produced with collaboration and support of the Ministry of Culture and Sport – Culture Administration; Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Department of Culture and Science Relations; Municipality of Tel Aviv-Yafo; The Marc Rich Foundation for Education, Culture and Welfare, and The Tel Aviv Yehoshua Rabinowitz Arts Foundation.

A Winter Funeral by Hanoch Levin has been performed in Brussels

It seems that weddings, funerals, and family members who will go to any lengths to avoid a funeral they’d rather not attend, or to not miss a wedding they’ve been waiting for their whole life – are universal subjects.

A Winter Funeral by Hanoch Levin has been performed at Théâtre du Rideau de Bruxelles in Brussels to great success and critical acclaim. Director Michael Delaunoy has directed Levin’s Ya’akobi and Leidental and The Labor of Living in the past, so the Levinesque world of imagery is very familiar to him. The cast comprises actors from Belgium and Switzerland since the play was produced in collaboration with the Swiss Compagnie du Passage.

The Hanoch Levin Institute of Israeli Drama, which represents the rights to Levin’s plays abroad, reports that the play also premiered at Slovak National Theatre at the end of March.

The play is part of an anthology of Hanoch Levin’s plays that is due to be published in China, and a Chinese production of the play is forthcoming.

17/3/18 was a first World Premiere of I❤MAMMA  by Hadar Galron

A comedy with dramatic streaks about the challenges of modern Motherhood.

Originally written for and with (via improv.) third year students at Beit-Zvi schol of dramatic arts, I made a new version of the play – (changed the outline story) especially for ABC Municipal Theatre of Prague.

Directed by : Petr Svojtka  – Artistic Director at ABC theatre        Asisstant writer : Nufar Hurvitz

The Secrets – a play by Hadar Galron ( inspired by the screenplay she wrote with director Avi Nesher , was staged only recently in Israel (October ’17) , produced by the Beit-Lessin theatre in Tel-Aviv. Before the Israeli production it was commissioned by the Mlada Boleslav theatre in the Czech Republic . Galron’s earlier play , Mikveh, was on stage at the MB theatre for 2 years, and before the final show they made sure they had a contract for her next play . Only this time Galron was invited to personally direct the play .

Galron says: “Directing in a foreign language is a new challenge but I never say ‘no’ to adventures like this -especially as it’s in the Czech Republic that I love so much”

The Play   “Mikveh” by Hadar Galron -will be premiered this coming April (Opening night 19/4/18 ) at the Harold Green Jewish Theater in Toronto. This will be the 11th internaional production of Galron’s first play, that was originally staged in 2005, produced by “Beit- Lessin Theatre” in Tel-Aviv. It was nominated for 6 Theatre Awards and won two, including “Play of the Year”. The longest run of “Mikveh” is, surprisingly, not in a Jewish Theater but in the National Theater of the Czech Republic – ‘Narodni Divadlo’- there it has been on stage since 2007 until today ! (This is the 11th, and probably final, season)

Director at HG Jewish Theater : Liza Balkan        Dramatourge : Goren Agmon
