Roee Joseph (born July 13, 1993) is an Israeli playwright and theatre creator. He is the recipient of the Rosenblum Prize for the Performing Arts (2024) as a Promising Artist, and the Golden Hedgehog Award (2022) in the category of Playwright of the Year. He teaches directing at the School of Performing Arts, Seminar Hakibbutzim College, and at the Yoram Loewenstein Performing Arts Studio.
Joseph was born and raised in Ramat Gan and studied theatre at Blich High School. During his military service, he served in the Military Police Criminal Investigation Division—a recurring theme in his plays. He is a doctoral student in the Program for Hermeneutics & Cultural Studies at Bar-Ilan University and a graduate of the Directing Program at the School of Performing Arts, Seminar Hakibbutzim College. He is also an alumnus of Nekudat Katze (End Point), a 2021 playwrights’ development program by The Nossor Theatre and Smartut Group, and Nekudat Pticha 8 (Opening Point 8) by Kvutsat Avoda.
Joseph’s works belong to the genre of documentary theatre, integrating ethnographic methods and autobiographical elements.
