Roy Chen, (born 1980, Tel-Aviv)

Since 2007, he is the house playwright of Gesher Theater (Jaffa), where his plays are staged, among them: Anybody Here, Floating Island, The Odyssey, The Tunnel.

His works were produced abroad, lately: Chi Come Me in Franco Parenti theater in Milan, Italy, and State of Affairs in Thalia theater in Hamburg, Germany.

Chen is the author of the novels Souls and Great uproar, published in Italian and Russian and are now being translated into English, German and Ukrainian.

Chen translated classic fiction novels and over 50 plays from Russian, French and English to Hebrew by Pushkin, Dostoevsky, Gogol, Kharms, Moliere, Anouilh, Robert Icke, Stephen King and in 2023 he published a new translation to Milne’s classic Winnie the Pooh.

Chen is the recipient of many awards including:
S.Y. Agnon Prize for Literature (2023)
Rosenblum Performing Arts Award by the city of Tel Aviv (2022)
The Prime Minister’s Prize for Hebrew Literary Works (2022)
Yitzhak Navon Ministry of Culture and Sports Award for the Preservation and Cultivation of Israeli Cultures. (2017)
