Erez Drigues an Actor, Playwright and Director

Born in Tel Aviv, Israel. He is a graduate of the “Yoram Loewenstein’s Performing Arts Studio,” Tel Aviv, class of 2007. In 2004/5 he won 2 full Scholarships for promising acting skills from The ‘America-Israel Cultural Foundation’. In 2010 he did a Directing internship for world renowned director Yevgeny Arye in a production of ‘Revizor’ by Gogol at ‘GESHER’ theater, Israel. In 2013 he was a member of the 2013 Lincoln Center Theater Directors Lab.

His Directing and other artistic accomplishments include: Directing “The Pillowman” by Martin McDonagh at Haifa regional theatre. Directing and Adapting “Microcosmos”, a novel by Yirmi Pinkus at ‘Gesher’ theater. Directing and translating “Gruesome Playground Injuries” by Rajiv Joseph for an Israeli debut production at ‘Gesher’ theater. Devising, editing and co-writing (with his colleague Iftach Ophir) “Repertory Theatre” by Eldad Cohen, at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2012-13 and in Israel, which won “Best Play” at the Israeli fringe awards. “Giving the Answer at the End”, in ‘14/48’ short theatre festival, Tel-Aviv. “Doors”, an original production, ‘Y.L.Studio’ and ’TZAVTA’ theater, Tel Aviv. ‘Andorra’ by Max Frisch, ‘Y.L.Studio’, Tel Aviv. He also wrote and performed in “1+1”, an original production at ‘GESHER’ theater.

As an actor, Erez has starred in a variety of classical and contemporary theater productions such as “Repertory Theatre” by Eldad Cohen (Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and independently in Israel) for which him and his colleague were shortlisted for “Best Ensemble” at
the “Stage” awards in Edinburgh. “1+1”, an original production, in the leading role (‘GESHER’ theater.) “Merchant of Venice” by Shakespeare, as Launcelot Gobbo and “Rail to Damascus” by Hillel Mitelpunkt, as LEHI Man (‘HaBIMA’ theatre.) “The Client” by Danni Wasserman , as Luftag and “Tartuffe” by Moliere, as Loyal and “Twelfth Night” by Shakespeare, as Sir Andrew Aguecheek (GESHER’ theater as a member of the company.) “It Runs in the Family” by Ray Cooney (‘TZAVTA’ Theater.)
His TV and cinema performances include the award winning show “Pillars of smoke” (two seasons) for Israeli cable television, “Confess” Israeli-German project for the internet, and “Going through the wall”- a feature film by acclaimed director Rama Burstein, recently accepted into the Venice film festival formal competition (2016).
