He currently serves as Resident Playwright and Dramaturg at Habima National Theatre. Previously, he was a dramaturg at the Khan Theatre in Jerusalem, where he directed “A Simple Tale”, based on S. Y. Agnon, and “Wandering Stars”, based on Sholem Aleichem. He has also directed at Tmu­na Theatre, Tel Aviv University Theatre, and other venues. In 2026, “Simple Actions”, an original play by Gotal, premiered at Habima. He also teaches at Tel Aviv University and at the Yoram Loewenstein Acting School. He holds an MFA in Theatre Directing and a BA in Acting, both from Tel Aviv University, as well as an MA in Philosophy, with a thesis on Hannah Arendt.
As a director, his work includes the Hebrew premiere of Bertolt Brecht’s “Fatzer”; an adaptation of Olga Tokarczuk’s “Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead”; a short film for the International Brecht Festival in Augsburg, Germany; and more. In 2023, he worked as a Praktikant under René Pollesch at the Volksbühne Berlin as part of an extended residency supported by the Goethe-Institut. He has also been a guest lecturer in the Department of Theatre Studies at Goethe University Frankfurt.
