The play “The Executioner and the Condemned to Death” presents a charged encounter between an executioner and the man he is about to kill, in the final hours before the execution. Through a series of sharp, often darkly comic dialogues, the two men argue about guilt, justice, fate, and the machinery of the state that has brought them to this moment. As the execution approaches, the line between victim and perpetrator blurs, exposing the loneliness and fear of both, and raising troubling questions about responsibility, obedience, and the value of a human life |
