The play follows the journey of a young, clever, and cynical teacher accompanying her teenage students on “The Trip to Poland” – An educational trip in which Israeli high school students visit Holocaust memorial sites in Poland. Told from her perspective in the first person, the play explores her ongoing struggle with a bureaucratic system that demands strict compliance with regulations, leaving no room for emotional considerations. This system aims to shape national identity through the Poland trip, yet within the rigid framework of historical briefings and visits to concentration camps, the characters find themselves entangled in a complex web of denial and repression—paying both personal and collective prices.

As the play unfolds, the teacher and her students are drawn into an unresolved tension between national and personal trauma. Through her eyes, the audience gradually witnesses a subconscious inner conflict with a deeply buried personal wound—one that emerges again during the journey, forcing her to break free and follow her own truth, despite the system’s strict expectations.

The Teacher raises thought-provoking questions about memory and repression, education, personal versus national trauma, and how Israeli society processes its collective history.
