. The witness is a play about the extraordinary life story of one considered the greatest of Yiddish poets in the world Abraham Sutzkever.

Sutzkever was a partisan fighter and a key member of the Paper Brigade, responsible for saving Jewish cultural treasures in Vilna. Sutzkever was chosen by the Russians to be the only Jewish witness at the Nuremburg Trials. His evidence had an enormous impact in the trials. The play is the story of his great belief that poetry will save lives and human spirit.
