“The Captives”

inspired by a real event

eve of war in a remote village. The men say goodbye to their wives, leave everything, and go to the front. Four women stay behind and struggle to survive and provide for their families. The hardship brings them to unite and establish a cafe serving the area’s residents and the soldiers. The cafe becomes a financial success. they are proud of themselves and for the first time in their lives, they feel strong and meaningful.

One day a hot rumor arrives at the cafe – a war prisoners camp has been set up near the village, the prisoners are handsome young men who can be used. In exchange for a bribe to the guards, the women can have a pleasant time with them.

The women who until now were loyal to their husbands, begin spending time with the prisoners.  These” relationships” reveal dark and repressed sides of their personalities that they did not know existed and they feel even stronger.

The war ends. The prisoners return to their country and the husbands return home and demand their former place as the head of their families. at first, the women surrender and return to their old role as housewives, but not for long they can hide the new power born in them and embark on a violent struggle against the old patriarchal order.
