“This Is the Protocol of a Town Meeting Not Far from Here”

One night, two children arrive in a nameless town — refugees from a war-torn region. The townspeople take them in and welcome them into their community. Soon after their arrival, it becomes clear that the two young children do not speak. Strange events begin to unfold throughout the town, raising suspicions that the children may somehow be connected to them. At the same time, a disturbing sound spreads across the town, threatening to drive its residents insane. Over the course of five urgent town meetings, the townspeople are forced to decide whether to keep the children among them or save themselves. This play is the protocol of those meetings.

The play received support from the Israeli Playwrights Development Fund through the “Starting Point” program. Dramaturgical guidance: Yigal Sachs and Nitzan Cohen.
