Immediately after the Yom Kippur War of 1973, a public protest broke out against Prime Minister Golda Meir and Defense Minister Moshe Dayan, blaming them for the failure of the political negotiations with Egypt before the war, and for the military failure at the beginning that caused so many casualties. Golda struggles with these accusations against Dayan who asks to resign because of them. Golda’s daughter supports her sick and exhausted mother following the war, but discovers the doubts and feelings of guilt she hides from the public. Despite her acquittal by the Agrant Investigation Committee, the public considers Golda responsible. She decides to resign, but continues to fight for her innocence. |
