Ofer Shafrir
Born 1958, served in the IDF in “L’hakat Hanachal” – a leading entertainment unit; received a BA in Theater and Cinema from Tel Aviv University, a diploma in screenwriting from the Open University and participated in a theatre playwriting workshop at the Beit-Lessin repertory theatre in Tel Aviv. Shafrir directed numerous musicals in repertory companies and children theatre companies, among them Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Aladdin, 101 Dalmatians, Alice in Wonderland, Treasure Island, Cinderella, Anne of Green gables, Pippi Longstocking, Hansel and Gretel and many more. A workshop of Shafrir’s original piece – Playing Theodor, about the life of Theodor Herzl, was recently held at the Tel Aviv Musical theatre Academy. TV credits include many ceremony and award shows, including the 2004 Israeli Oscars, a live broadcast held at the Tel Aviv Preforming arts center, the 2003 TV awards ceremony held at the Tel Aviv performing Arts center, the 2005 Independence Day main event and the 2008 Miss Israel beauty pageant. Also among his TV credits are Buggies, a miniseries for cable TV in 2016 and several children shows that are still running today. Shafir also directed the 2000 Eurovision song selection, as well as several Eurovision entries, including Dana International’s Diva, winner of the 1991 Eurovision contest
