Following his service in the IDF he studied English Literature and Communication at Tel Aviv University, and went on to receive a Master\u2019s degree in Creative Writing at the City College of New York. During his stay in New York he translated a number of plays by Hanoch Levin, including \u201cJob\u2019s Passion\u201d, which was staged at New York\u2019s Theater for The New City in 2006.<br \/>\n&#8220;The Platoon&#8221;, his first play, won first place in the Tzavta Theater\u2019s 7th staged reading Festival in 2012, and began its theatrical run in 2014. \u201cShade\u201d, a one act play, was staged at the Tzavta Theater\u2019s 15th annual short play festival and its translations were published in English (Ponder Review, 2018) and Arabic (Al Alsun, 2019). His play &#8220;Barabbas&#8221;, based on Christopher Marlowe&#8217;s &#8220;The Jew of Malta&#8221;, had a staged reading by the Yiddishpiel Theater in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Azoulay&#8217;s debut novel &#8220;Lazaretto&#8221; was published in 2019. Several stories by Azoulay have appeared in a number of Israeli and international journals, including McSweeney&#8217;s Internet Tendency, Flapperhouse, The Cost of Paper, The Molotov Cocktail, and The Short Story Project.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Azoulay was born in Tel Aviv and grew up in Ramat Gan, New York City, and Ganei Tikva.
