He studied Jewish philosophy, Kabbala and English literature at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. His first play, <strong>Tura<\/strong>, was produced in 1963. He has written more than 40 plays.<br \/>\nBar-Yosef&#8217;s plays have won extraordinary popularity in Russia. His plays <strong>Difficult People<\/strong>, <strong>The Citrus Grove<\/strong> and <strong>Elka\u2019s Gold<\/strong> Have been running successfully since 1992 at the Sovremennik Theatre in Moscow, the Akimon Theatre in St. Petersburg, and in other major theatres in Kiev, Riga, Samara and other cities of the former USSR. These three plays have also been produced in New-Delhi, some of which were filmed for Television.
