Working against the backdrop of<br \/>\nOperation Protective Edge, the artists each create an artwork in response to an<br \/>\narticle published in the summer of 2014 in a German newspaper, which expressed<br \/>\nconcerns regarding Israel\u2019s policy in Gaza.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; line-height: 150%; vertical-align: baseline; direction: ltr; background: white;\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; line-height: 150%; direction: ltr; background: white;\">Combining dance, video, and performance art and making use of a<br \/>\nrange of artistic tools and a special performative syntax, the three artists<br \/>\nexamine the normalization of relations among their countries, as well as the<br \/>\nevolution of collective narratives following the Second World War. The<br \/>\nGerman-Israeli video artist Uriah Rhein-Merchav\u2019s work is concerned with the<br \/>\nco-dependent relations created between victim and perpetrator; the Polish<br \/>\nchoreographer Agnieszka Tz&#8217;zak creates a confessional performance that explores<br \/>\nhow Polish and Israeli societies come to terms with feelings of guilt; and the<br \/>\nradical performance artist Liora Alshech, the soloist of the band Liora and the<br \/>\nSchwarz Schwa\u0308nze, is concerned with the enchanting, mesmerizing, spectacular<br \/>\neffect of the war.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Eyal Weiser\u2019s \u201cHow&#8217;s the Beast?\u201d features three new fictional artists \u2013 a Polish choreographer, a German-Israeli artist, and an Israeli performance artist.
