Nir Strauss Playwright, Director and Actor

Born in 1989. He is a graduate of the Kibbutzim Seminary and holds a bachelor’s degree in theater directing and education.

Strauss won the Minister of Culture Award for Emerging Artists at the President’s Residence.

Wrote many plays, including “Taking the Girl Out” (The Cameri), “Treatment” and “Directions” (Tzavta)

Director of the play “On the Day the Sharav Arrived” (Tzavta)

Created the one-man show that won the Best Leading Actor award at the Haifa Festival – “My Grandfather, the Chief of Staff”

Wrote and directed the play “Holding Pisa” at the Israeli Spring Festival 2024 for which he won the Best Play Award and the Best Leading Actor Award.

He has also acted in various plays: “For a Few Days” (The Cameri), “The Odd Couple” (Beit Lessin), “4 Minutes and 12 Seconds (Be’er Sheva Theater), “Robin Hood” (Orna Porat Theater)

During the war, he created the performance “The Poet’s Writing Room”.

Initiated the “Corrento” format (short solo plays) at the Teatronto Festival and initiated the “Short and Single” track at the Short Theater Festival.

Strauss is also a poet, and his book “The Orphans’ Gallows” was published in 2022.
