Nataly Zukerman
Contact: eMail Nataly Zukerman is an independent theater and performance creator, artistic director, dramaturg, performer, and lecturer. Nataly’s work belongs to the field of Devised theater and interdisciplinary creation, where, through a research process, the plays are written based on autobiographical and documentary experiences, both her own and those of other participants, some of whom are professional actors and others not. Her works engage with the body and disability, following an accident she had at the age of 12, which left her with an invisible disability, as well as with the chronic illness of endometriosis. She explores the invisible physical experience and strives to give it voice and form, incorporating empathy and listening as key tools to engage the audience in experiencing the personal and physical realities of the performers, while emphasizing the political and social aspects of identity and the body. Her works include: Sit by Me (together with Atalia Branzburg and Idan Schwartz), Blueberry (together with Tomer Koppel, Atalia Branzburg, Ori Lenkinski) for which she won Best Performance at the Acco Festival of Alternative Israeli Theatre; Practice Makes Perfect, for which she won Best Performer at the Acco Festival of Alternative Israeli Theatre, 2015; The Other Body (together with Atalia Branzburg), for which she won Best Performer at the Israeli fringe awards, 2014. Nataly’s work includes that of a freelance dramaturg working with various artists from the dance and theatre worlds such as, Galit Liss, Niv Sheinfeld & Oren Laor, Ayala Frenkel, Jason Danino Holt and others. She is the pedagogical director of the Moving Into Action interdisciplinary lab for choreography with people of varied abilities in Kelim center. Between 2020 and 2022, she was the co-artistic director, alongside Ayala Frankel, of Kelim Dance Festival at Kelim Choreographic Center.
